Supernatural Rights

Significant People

  • Frances Jackson Beckett is a prominent figure as her case law studies generated significant progress for vampyre rights. She was also a significant investor in the first ever supernatural academy for young supernaturals of all races in south central Cascadia. Additionally she was the first to sign the Hollow Accords in the early 2400’s.

Organizations and Groups

  • One Voice, One People is a relatively new sociopolitical movement around the Globe. The natives of Simterra of various supernatural abilities and genetics collectively are appealing to the World Council for greater representation on the international level and respect for their traditions, culture, and lands. It is slow-moving process spanning multiple continents, but the movement is gaining traction.
  • The Shadowguard is aligned with the Supernatural Rights Movement. Their questionable activities seek to protect supernaturals at all costs, often working outside the law. See also: Organized Crime
  • The Vampyre Freedom Alliance (VFA) is an organized crime syndicate operating in Beringia, Timberland, and all 3 Cascadian provinces.

Conflicts and Demonstrations

  • The Silent Revolution in Albergia was a peaceful movement aimed to secure audiences with world leaders in order to discuss the expansion of supernatural rights. This movement was largely successful due to its nonviolent, diplomatic approach and steadfast pursuit of goals. The revolution was comprised of mainly academics, scholars, and hybrids who sought a better life for their brethern at the turn of the 24th century. It spread throughout the Sim Union and further east to Takahara and Seoula.
  • Fae Colony Independence Movement was a failed attempt for all Fae colonies outside the Sim Union to achieve independence from the Fae Empire. The alvar (snow fairies) were the only successful faction given their rather remote and cold location on the frozen lands of Arctica.
  • The Scarlet Surrender was a cultist movement in New Scythia. Its leader, Vladislaus Straud the II, advocated for mass vampyre suicides in the streets of several prominent cities around the globe as a method of extreme protest against the restrictions against vampyres. Approximately 2000 people died, including several other races.
  • Vampyre Street Wars were a series of violent vampire gang wars, wreaking havoc in Cascadia and the northern Sim National States. Out of this conflict, the Vampires for Freedom Alliance (VFA) was founded. The Hollow Accords were the first step toward peaceful resolution. See also: Crime.
  • The Vendian Liberation Movement allowed the Kingdom of Tartosa to be established. Tartosa gained its independence from Hellana and Hesperia. This was the first time merfolk were granted equal rights as the Sim Union did not recognize the legitimacy of “sea witches” at the time.

Protections and Rights

  • The Corner Accords promised supernatural governance and autonomy within the State of Four Corners, lifting the political, economic, social, and racial restrictions for supernaturals who were citizens of the state.
  • The Vampyre Street Wars in Cascadia led to the resolution of the Hollow Accords, allowing vampyres to peacefully live within their own communities and autonomously govern their people within these “Hollows.” These accords are now recognized in all, but one Sim National State, Cascadia, and within the Arctic High Council, Vendian Protectorate, Amazonean Commonwealth, and most of the Sim Union.
